If you ever thought the Audi S1’s ultra-capable quattro all-wheel-drive system just wasn’t good enough for your off-road adventures, you apparently aren’t alone.
One owner seems to have taken matters into their own hands. He modified the car to accept a set of snow tracks to drive around on.
This video of a blue Audi S1 five-door on tracks has been making its way around the web. It shows the automobile ripping around a beach somewhere in Europe, pulling through gears and even hitting the water at some points. Though this isn’t the first time to see snow songs mount on a car, it’s still a pretty wild sight.
Don’t worry if you’re unfamiliar with the S1; it’s an obscure model to most Americans because it’s not selling in the United States. Positioned near the bottom of the company’s European lineup, the S1 gets a 2.0-liter TFSI engine that makes 231 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It’s essentially the same engine that equips Volkswagen’s GTI, but it’s stuffed in a car that’s about the size of a Ford Fiesta. The turbo four sends its power to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. And Audi’s famed quattro all-wheel drive system.
It doesn’t look like many modifications are make to the car to make the paths fit, either. Besides a few cuts to the bumpers and a slight suspension adjustment. The S1 with his snow tracks looks totally stock-though we can’t know for sure. Either way, we’re into it.
Watch for yourself as the apocalypse-ready Audi hits the beach.
